Today’s recipe is Uttapam. Uttapam is a thick dosa-like South Indian dish. It is crisp and thick like a pancake. It is a very popular dish for breakfast in our country. You can even pack it in your kid’s lunchbox.
For Uttapam, you will require –
Rice rava, black gram skinned / urad dal, fenugreek seeds, water, and salt (For batter preparation). For preparing Uttapam – you can choose any one of the two toppings from boiled potatoes and mixed chopped vegetables. (To prepare Uttapam, you need to first soak both rice rava (1/2 cup water) and urad dal for atleast 4-5 hours. Next, soaked rice and dal are then churned into a thick batter along with fenugreek seeds. This thick batter is then allowed to ferment for a few hours in a warm condition or warm place.
This recipe includes veggies as topping, for making onion uttapam top it with chopped onion and green chillies, for potato uttapam top it with normal dosa masala.
