Papdi Chaat – Rajasthani Style | How to prepare papri chaat

Today’s recipe is ‘Papdi Chaat – Rajasthani Style ‘. Summer is my favourite season to enjoy chaat and juices, as both chaat and juice require no cooking. Papdi/papri used in this recipe is samosa shaped papri which is easily available in the market in Rajasthan. If you ever get your hands on this variety of papri, do give this recipe a try.

For Papdi Chaat recipe, you will require – papdi (samosa shaped), curd, boiled chickpeas, boiled potatoes, onion, tomato, tamarind chutney, green chutney, and few spices. If you want you can use boiled Kala chana (black gram) instead of chickpeas. You can adjust the spices quantity according to your taste preference.

Papdi Chaat - Rajasthani Style
Papdi Chaat - Rajasthani Style is a chaat recipe which is prepared using papdi which is triangle/samosa shaped and easily available in Rajasthan. It is a perfect summer recipe which is easy to prepare.

Preparation required for chaat
  1. Soak chickpeas for at least eight hours or overnight.
  2. Boil chickpeas and potatoes. Keep them aside and let them cool.
  3. Beat curd. Keep green chutney and tamarind chutney ready.
  4. Finely chop green chillies, onion, tomato and green coriander.
Method for chaat
  1. In a serving plate/bowl, crush papdis.
  2. Top the crushed papdis with boiled potato and chickpeas.
  3. Pour curd over the papdi, chickpeas and potatoes.
  4. Next, top up both the chutneys over curd and papdi as required.
  5. Top chaat with chopped green chillies, tomato and onion.
  6. Sprinkle all the dry spices and sev over the chaat.
  7. Garnish chaat with coriander leaves and serve immediately.

Method for Papdi Chaat - Rajasthani Style

  • In a serving plate/bowl, crush papdis.

  • Pour curd over the papdi, chickpeas and potatoes.

  • Next, top up both the chutneys over curd and papdi as required.

  • Top chaat with chopped green chillies, tomato and onion.

  • Sprinkle all the dry spices and sev over the chaat. Garnish chaat with coriander leaves.

  • Serve papdi chaat immediately.
