Paneer Pakora | How to make paneer pakoda

Today’s recipe is ‘Paneer Pakora’.  It is a very easy and delicious snack/fritter recipe made from cottage cheese/paneer. Paneer pakoda tastes well with green chutney or ketchup. It can be enjoyed as an appetiser or tea-time snack.

For this recipe, you will need – paneer/cottage cheese, gram flour, spices, green chillies, garlic powder and coriander leaves. To prepare pakoras, paneer cubes are coated with gram flour batter and then deep-fried. [To give this pakora recipe a twist, you can make a half-cut in the paneer cube and can apply chutney or sauce in it.]

Ingredients for Paneer Pakora

Paneer/cottage cheese100 gms
Besan/gram flour1 cup
Green chillies (chopped)3-4 (medium size) or as per taste
Mint leaves (chopped)2 tsps
Coriander leaves (chopped)2 tsps
Red chilli powder1 tsp or as per taste
Saltas per taste
Carrom seeds1/2 tsp
Soda1/8 tsp
Cumin seeds1/2 tsp
Black pepper powder1/2 tsp or as per taste
Garlic powder (optional)1/2 tsp
Waterfor batter of coating consistency
Oilfor deep-fry

Method for Paneer Pakora

  • Cut paneer into the slices of your thickness.

  • In a mixing bowl, take gram flour, red chilli powder, salt, black salt, carom seeds, green chillies, chopped mint leaves, chopped coriander leaves, garam masala, garlic powder/crushed garlic and baking soda.

  • Add water and prepare a coating consistency batter.

  • Heat oil in a deep vessel.

  • Dip and coat each slice with batter.

  • Deep fry pakora, in small batches on a medium flame.

  • Remove on an absorbent paper.

  • Fry all the pakoras in small batches.

  • Serve hot with ketchup/chutney.
