Lobia Masala Recipe (Black eyed pea /Chawla recipe)

Ingredients for Lobia Masala

Lobia / Black-eyed beans/लोबिया 1.5 cup
Cumin seeds / ज़ीरा1 tsp
Mustard seeds / राइ1/2 tsp
Green chilli / हरी मिर्च3 (chopped) (long)
Curry leaves / करी पत्ता8-10
Onion/प्याज़2 (medium) (chopped)
Curd/दही1 tbsp
Red chilli powder/लाल मिर्च पाउडर 1 tsp or as per taste
Turmeric powder/हल्दी 1/2 tsp
Salt/नमक 1 tsp
Coriander powder/सूखा धनिया पाउडर 1.5 tsp
Oil /तेल1/4 cup or 3 tbsp
Water/पानीas required for boiling
Garlic/लहसुन1 tsp (crushed)

Method for Lobia Masala

  • Wash and soak lobia overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.

  • Drain water and pressure cook soaked lobia with salt. Cook for two whistles, check whether lobia is tender or not. Strain water and keep lobia aside.
