Today’s recipe is ‘Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi’. It is an easy and quick recipe. In Rajasthan, it is served with fafda, a very popular snack. This recipe takes only 10 mins of total time. Green tomatoes are very tangy in tastes, which along with green chillies gives this dish a tangy and spicy flavour.
For this recipe, you will need – green tomatoes, green chillies, salt, asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and oil. I love this recipe for its simplicity and flavours. I have used green tomatoes from our garden 😀 . You can serve this dish as a side dish with dal rice or parathas.

Ingredients for Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi
|Green Tomatoes (chopped)||4-5 (small)|
|Green chillies (chopped)||3-4 (large)|
|Salt||1/2 tsp or as per taste|
|Cumin seeds||1/4 tsp|
|Mustard seeds/ Rai||1/4 tsp|
|Asafoetida/hing||1/8 tsp or a pinch|
Method for Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi
- Wash and chop green tomatoes.
- In a pan/deep vessel heat oil.
- Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.
- Let the seeds starts spluttering. Add chopped green tomatoes.
- Add chopped green chillies and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook for 5 mins. Till tomatoes are tender.
- Simmer for 2 mins and switch off the flame.
- Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi is ready to serve.
