Today’s recipe is ‘Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi’.  It is an easy and quick recipe.  In Rajasthan, it is served with fafda, a very popular snack. This recipe takes only 10 mins of total time. Green tomatoes are very tangy in tastes, which along with green chillies gives this dish a tangy and spicy flavour.

For this recipe, you will need – green tomatoes, green chillies, salt, asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and oil. I love this recipe for its simplicity and flavours. I have used green tomatoes from our garden 😀 .  You can serve this dish as a side dish with dal rice or parathas.

Ingredients for Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi

Green Tomatoes (chopped)4-5 (small)
Green chillies (chopped)3-4 (large)
Salt1/2 tsp or as per taste
Oil1 Tbsp
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds/ Rai1/4 tsp
Asafoetida/hing1/8 tsp or a pinch

Method for Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi

  • Wash and chop green tomatoes.

  • In a pan/deep vessel heat oil.

  • Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.

  • Let the seeds starts spluttering. Add chopped green tomatoes.

  • Add chopped green chillies and salt. Mix well.

  • Cover and cook for 5 mins. Till tomatoes are tender.

  • Simmer for 2 mins and switch off the flame.

  • Hare Tamatar Mirchi ki Sabzi is ready to serve.
